In my analysis paper I will be discussing the issues in the involvement of psychologists in interrogations. Many of the current issues resort to an ethical or unethical question in regards of the American Psychological Association’s Code of Conduct. Are the practices of using inhumane techniques to gain enemy intelligence ethical or unethical? The use of psychologists in military interrogations has led to crossing the lines of being inhumane, which is against the Code of Conduct. Psychologists have been used in many different ways in the military, such as questioning detainees, enemy combatants, and even our own military members to decide whether they would fit into certain career fields. The current debate on psychologists involved with military interrogations is focused on whether this activity is violating codes. Many people are arguing the fact that these interrogations can be abusive towards detainees and unethical while a vast selection of people also agree that many psychologists stay within their code and regulations and maintain a safe approach. Psychologists have a fine line when it comes to breaking the guidelines and staying in them. There are many different issues to bring up on this topic and I will be discussing both point of views related to military interrogations.
